Since entering the era of intelligent technology, intelligent electronic technology has become increasingly mature and popular all over the world. The products covered in this field, from automotive parts to crystal components, the vast majority of products will involve the soldering process. With the continuous development of science and technology, the level of IC chip design and the provision of packaging technology, electronic products have begun to evolve in the direction of multi-function and small size, and SMT is naturally developing in the direction of high stability and high integration of miniaturization.
Due to the increasing number of pins of single components, the pin spacing of IC QFP components is also getting smaller and smaller. The traditional soldering process has gradually been unable to meet the needs of production technology, so laser welding came into being. Today, let's talk about laser welding.
What is laser welding technology?
Laser welding technology is a method that uses laser as a heat source and melts tin to make the circuit board and components closely fit brazing. Without contact, only through laser irradiation can provide the heat required for soldering. Due to its non-contact characteristics, welding for products of different sizes and shapes can be competent. Therefore, it is suitable for product welding in various fields, and it is a highly applicable welding technology.
The welding material can be solder paste, tin wire, tin ball, tin ring and other different shapes.

Principle of laser welding
The basic principles of welding are accomplished through three processes: wetting, diffusion and metallurgy. After the solder is heated and melted, the solder joint is moistened and diffused to the solder joint with the inherent tension of the solder joint, and the metal layer of the solder joint is contacted to form an alloy layer, so that the two are firmly combined.
Whether it is a laser or a soldering iron, it must go through three steps: preheating the solder joint, heating the solder supply, and heating the shape. The difference between the laser iron and the soldering iron is that the laser belongs to the "surface heat release", the heating speed is extremely fast, and the heat-affected zone is very small. The soldering iron is slowly heated by "heat transfer", and the transmission and conversion method of heat energy is not the same.
What is the characteristics of laser welding?
1. Can complete non-contact welding, only through laser irradiation, will not bring physical burden to the matrix.
2. Laser soldering can achieve high-precision spot welding, only heating the connection part, small heat-affected zone, small impact on the PCB board, not easy to bend the PCB board.
3. The machine can set fixed parameters according to the product type, so that the temperature and time of each solder joint contact are consistent to ensure the consistency of solder joint quality.
4. High precision, small spot diameter, can achieve micro-spacing mounting devices, while the processing accuracy is much higher than manual welding, can be welded in the space below 1MM.
