Laser hardening is a kind of high technology for rapid surface local hardening. This method is mainly used to strengthen the surface of the parts, which can improve the surface hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and strength and high-temperature performance of the metal materials and parts, simultaneously, the heart of the parts can still maintain good toughness, so that the mechanical properties of the parts have good wear resistance, high impact toughness and high fatigue strength. Laser hardening can greatly improve product quality and multiply the product's service life, which has significant economic benefits and has been widely used in various industries on many products. The following describes the scope of the application of laser hardening.

Laser hardening is generally divided into three processes: laser phase change hardening, laser melting solidification hardening and laser shock hardening. Their common theoretical basis is the law of interaction between laser and material. The characteristics of the three processes are mainly that the laser energy density acting on the material is different, and it is related to the time of the laser acting on the material.
Laser quenching technology solves many problems that cannot be solved by conventional heat treatment processes, and has been widely used in metallurgy, automobile, mold, hardware, light industry, machinery manufacturing and other industries.

Heat treatment for the following types of parts:
1. Large workpieces that are difficult to enter the heat treatment furnace.
2. Only the groove, groove, hole, edge, cutting edge and other local surfaces for heat treatment of the workpiece.
3. Parts that are difficult to be treated by conventional heat treatment process.
4. Precision parts with high deformation requirements for heat treatment.
5. Heat treatment of cast metal that the carbon content must be at least 0.3%.
6. Parts easily cracked by conventional heat treatment process.
7. Parts that cannot meet the hardness requirements of conventional heat treatment process.
