1. Two-Step Method (Default method)
Methods for presetting cladding materials include:
1) Pre-coating: Generally applied by hand, the most economical and convenient. It is a paste made of cladding powder with a binder and placed on the surface of the workpiece. After drying, laser cladding is performed. However, this method has low production efficiency and inconsistent coating thickness, which is not suitable for mass production.
2) Preset sheet: Add a small amount of adhesive to the powder of the cladding material, shape it into a sheet, place it on the part of the workpiece to be cladded, and then perform laser treatment. The method has high powder utilization and stable quality, and is suitable for some deep-hole parts, such as small bore valve bodies. A high-quality coating can be obtained by this method.

2. One-step method
This is the process of sending the cladding material to the laser area while the laser beam illuminates the workpiece. There are two ways:
1) Synchronous powder feeding method: using a special spraying powder feeding device to send a single or mixed powder into the melting pool, the thickness of the cladding layer can be adjusted by controlling the powder feeding amount . Due to the high laser absorption and high thermal efficiency of the loose powder, thicker cladding layers can be obtained than other methods, which is easy to automate.
2) Synchronous wire feeding method: The process principle of this method is the same as that of the synchronous powder feeding method, except that the coated material is pre-treated into silk or filled silk is used. This method is convenient and does not waste materials. It is easier to ensure the composition uniformity of the cladding layer. Especially when the cladding layer is a composite material, the quality of the cladding layer is not affected by the difference in powder-specific gravity or particle size. In addition, the fine treatment of preheated wire can improve the coating rate. The surface of silk is smooth, the reflection of the laser is strong, and the utilization rate of the laser is relatively low. In addition, the wire manufacturing process is complex and the variety of specifications is few.
