Application of Laser Cladding on Inner Wall of Small and Medium Diameter Pipeline

In the shipbuilding, petroleum, mining and other manufacturing industries, a large number of pipelines need to be used, and the inner wall of these pipelines will be subjected to different degrees of wear during use and affect its performance and life, so increasing the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the inner wall of the pipeline is the key to solve this problem.

 

As a new technology of material surface modification, laser cladding technology refers to the coating material selected by placing different fillers on the surface of the coated substrate, melting the surface layer of the substrate at the same time through laser irradiation, and forming a diluent layer base after rapid solidification and forming a surface coating with the substrate material into a metallurgical combination. Thus, the process methods of wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance and oxidation resistance of the substrate material surface are significantly improved.

 

Its main features are as follows:


(1) Ultra-fast melting speed (103 ~ 106℃ / s), so its processing efficiency is very high, and the processing speed is very fast.


(2) A good metallurgical bond is formed between the cladding layer and the matrix, and the cladding layer is dense, the heat affected zone is small and the dilution rate is low.


(3) The selection of cladding materials is diverse, and different alloy proportions can be designed according to different engineering requirements in order to effectively control the structure and properties of the cladding layer during the cladding process.


(4) Laser cladding is a fine processing method, which can be used to achieve local processing of small areas, and there is no direct contact with the parts during the processing, and it will not cause contact damage to the parts, which is easy to realize the automatic control of the processing process. The technique has been preliminarily applied to cladding of pipelines.

 

At this stage, laser cladding technology can only cover large-diameter pipelines, and for small and medium-sized diameter pipelines, mainly due to the space limitation of cladding, it is difficult for the laser head to enter the pipeline. The realization process is complex and costly, and the conventional laser cladding machining head laser only begins to focus at a relatively distant position. The processing efficiency is low and it is easy to damage the protective mirror, and it is difficult to achieve good processing quality.

 

The application demand for surface cladding and repair on the inner wall of some high-load parts continues to increase, hoping to have excellent wear resistance, erosion resistance, corrosion resistance, such as bearings, molds, cylinders, cylinders, extrusion cylinders, valves, etc. With the improvement of product service performance and structural complexity, the industry has put forward higher and higher application requirements for the limit scale, versatility and high quality and efficiency of the inner wall laser cladding and repair technology.
